Dunes and Clouds

We took a backpacking trip to camp on the shores of Lake Michigan.  It was an amazing weekend.  We hiked in about 2 miles and camped between several wonderfully large dunes.

With no camera, I attempted to capture the clouds in pastels as I rember them off to the south as the sun set in the west.  Against the vivid blue sky, the clouds were lovely tinged in pink above the dark green  pines.

I am looking forward to getting other images from this trip onto paper.

How do you record your memories?

Found a Moth on Our Walk

We went over to play some tennis and kickball at the local conference grounds.  On the walk back, one of my sons took the woods route and the other son walked with me on the dirt road.

On the dirt road, I saw a beautiful moth!  My son reached down to gently let the moth climb on his finger.  He informed me that he is extra sensitive and moths (in fact all insects) are attracted to him:)

He walked that moth all the way home and we were able to get some photos.

Found the name of this moth, the Eight Spotted Forrester here:  What’s That Bug?

What types of insects are attracted to you???

Just because…

Just loved the differences in greens…and shapes of these tree.

Enjoy the differences…enjoy the day.

What is art?

I was just at the Grand Rapids Museum of Art with a group of educators.  This topic “what is art…” came up as it so often does when in an art gallery.  Here is the best response I have heard yet on the topic:

This video was posted by Diana of Art for a Lifetime on the blog entitled On Painting.  Glad to have found both of these sites!

Enjoy!

In my mind’s eye

Captured this image from my mind.  Had my eyes closed…meditating…and saw this image.  I went right to the oil pastels to attempt to get the image down on paper.  It reminded me of algae under the water’s surface in the sea.

What images are in your mind’s eye?

Blue and Green

Looked up…saw this…breathed in…breathed out…lovely

Scarf…like a dream

Dreamy, lovely scarf made by red2white.  She took the time to discover colors I like and created this beautiful scarf for me.  Her words, “I wanted to make it as thin as possible, like a dream …” and a dream it is!

Thank you!!! I just love it:)

(I will take an upclose pic soon…)

Little Things I Love

I love when the leaves first open from their closed spaces…like newborns, fresh, floppy and fine.

Dreaming of white window frames

Interesting dream last night…I was climbing out of water (that had been clean, but was receeding and becoming murky).  Climbing out, I sat on a ledge to re-string 3 violins.  To my right was a row of windows with lovely green light shining through.

There was a man behind the windows waiting to help me climb through, as the edges of the window were steep and the water was now far below on my left.  I was given a hand and helped through.

I have a strong knowing from this dream.  I wanted to add the description here, to save.

What have you dreamed lately?

Leafing Out

The back dunes behind our home are leafing out…just gorgeous!  I had a great time with the camera today!
