Tiny Pine Cones

Just a gorgeous site…tiny pine cones!  The purplish color really caught my eye against the green.

What have you seen this spring that has surprised you?

  1. Hi Susan,

How interesting…my surprise this spring was tiny pinecones also.

We planted a 4 ft Norway Spruce for our grandson when he started kindergarten……4 years ago. The tree has grown to almost 7 ft already, and…it isn’t supposed to make cones until it is 30 years old.

Well, you can imagin my delight to find teeny tiny little cones all over the tree a few days ago. They are 1″ long and not as big as a drinking straw.

I can’t wait to see the results of how they grow.

Your photo is beautiful…..I haven’t had much time to play with my camera as of late.

Good to know you are still finding delight in natures bounty of amazing things.

  2. I love the purple cones.

My surprise this spring were funny little tracks on the sandy beach I was exploring. I still haven’t discovered what they were, but I posted them and maybe someone will be ablt to tell me.

This spring has been filled with such lovely surprises after the long winter we had. And now it’s nearly summer.

    Spring was way too short!

  3. Bea, sincronicity…love it! So good to hear from you.

Bo~I hear you on the short spring…humid and warm after all that great rain!

  4. My surprise was a week ago on an evening walk to the beach. Its a place where I regulary walk but this time I noticed something white on the ground in the woods. I thought it might be some type of ground cover in bloom. Imagine my surprise to discover a literal blanket of cotton wood cotton, 3-4 inches thick in places. If I were a little bird, I would have decorated my nest with this lovely gift.

  5. Hi Cathy,
Wow! What a delight…the birds would surely have the softest nests in town!

  6. Hi Susan,

Ah, so beautiful! Mother Nature in all her glory.

  7. Susan, what a beautiful photo – as usual! I’ve never seen such tiny pine cones and definatately not pink. I love the way you’ve composed the photo.

    You’ve got talent, my friend!

  8. Reminds me of an exotic winter flower… ahh! the beauty of pines!

  9. thanks, Barb:)
